Zoo Mural

A partnership program between Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Central West Catchment Management Authority, River Smart, Lincoln School and TAFE Western has given students an opportunity to contribute to the design and development of a mural to be displayed at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Project Platypus, an initiative of Taronga Western Plains Zoo, is designed to raise awareness in the community that the Orana region is the most western location in which Platypus are found in NSW.

Students from Lincoln School's TAFE Digital Graphics class were asked to contribute to the design and painting of a mural that will be placed at the entrance to the Zoo's Australian section. Students incorporated both traditional and contemporary styles into the mural that is now known as the "Biladurang Platypus Mural". Biladurang is the traditional Wiradjuri word for Platypus.

The students have been working hard and the mural is now nearing completion.

The project has been completed under the guidance of talented artists Jack Randall and Allan Shillingsworth.
